Nain Rouge 2026 Flower Crew by Sammy Pfaff
We're thrilled to debut this new, City Bird exclusive, crewneck designed by local artist Sammy Pfaff! The latest addition to our popular line of crewnecks celebrating La Marche du Nain Rouge and the legend of Le Nain Rouge, this super-soft crewneck features a fresh, modern take on the Nain, dressed to impress with a bow-tie, boots, and a flower peeking from its pocket on the backside of the crew. The frontside features a crisp white faux screen-printed pocket, accented by a charming matching flower peeking out. Printed in red, blue, and white ink on a black unisex crew that fits pretty true to size and will resist shrinkage. Produced by City Bird and printed in Detroit.
La Marche du Nain Rouge is an annual local tradition featuring a colorful, Mardi Gras-style participatory parade, and other festivities. The legend of Le Nain Rouge goes something like this (from www.marchedunainrouge.com): âMore than 300 years ago, around the same time the city of Detroit was founded, an evil was discovered in and around the city that has plagued the people and the city, and even wreaked havoc upon the founder of Detroit, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. This âevilâ was said to have been a Nain Rouge, otherwise known as the âred dwarf of Detroit.â This malevolent spirit cursed generations and brought ill tidings for many Detroiters. It wasnât until La Marche du Nain Rouge, held the Sunday closest to the vernal (Spring) Equinox, did the people of Detroit come together to banish Le Nain Rouge.â
